Frequently asked questions

What is Goal?
Goal is one of the UK's premier
examining and awarding bodies. It was formed in 2000 from a merger with LCCI (London Chamber of Commerce and Industry) and is part of EDI plc (Education Development International).

Who recognises these certifications?
Goal qualifications are on the UK's National Qualification Framework (NQF) and are therefore widely recognised.  

Are they available to anyone?
Yes. They are open to anyone regardless of age, background or previous qualifications. 

How do I achieve a Goal qualification?
You will need to complete a series of learning modules which may be provided as either hardcopy or via the internet. The qualiifcation is achieved by passing two, short online multiple-choice tests.

If there is a group of learners within your company or organisation, then the programme may be supported with optional, in-company workshops.

Which level is right for me?
It is important to select a level that either matches your current job level or develops you to the next level. Our staff will be happy to advise you and help you choose the right level.

What support is available?
If you have any queries regarding the learning modules or online test, we can provide support by email. However, we are not able to advise you or solve technical problems regarding internet access, system settings etc.  

Do I need to attend any training events or workshops?
This is optional. If you are based in the UK or Europe and there are several learners within your organisation, Best Practice can provide facilitated in-company workshops to provide you with additional support.

Where can I take the test?
The test may be taken at your own site. A responsible person will be required to ensure that the tests are taken under controlled conditions. A separate document is available from Best Practice that describes testing arrangements. 

When can I take the test?
The test can be taken at any time and date that suits you. However, you will need to inform Best Practice at least fourteen days in advance so as your test can be made accessible.

What conditions are required for the test?
The test must be taken in a controlled environment and supervised by a responsible person. We can provide a separate document that fully describes these requirements.

How long does the test last?
The tests are either 60 or 90 minutes depending on the qualification and level. 

What is the format of the test?
Generally 30 or 40 multiple choice questions. 

How do I get the results?
You will be informed of your results by email within one working day of completing the test. If you pass, your certificate will be forward to you by post within 10 working days. 

What happens if I fail?
If you have not passed, you may register to retake the test. We advise that you repeat the learning modules in order to ensure you pass on the next attempt. You may retake the test as many times as necessary, however, there is an additional fee for each test that you take. 

Are there different grades of pass?
No. If you have passed then your results will state 'pass'. There are no different grades of pass. 

What are the system requirements?
To complete the test, you will need access to a PC with a web-browser and fast internet connection. Prior to sitting the test, we will send you a diagnostic programme to ensure that your PC is correctly configured.


When can I start?
You should register with Best Practice at least thirty days before intending to begin the learning programme.
