What is BTEC Career Path?
BTEC Career Path is a recognised series of qualifications for contact centre professionals. There are four different levels of qualification: Foundation, Agent, Team Leader and Manager.

Who recognises these certifications?
BTEC qualifications are certificated by Edexcel - one of UK and Europe's largest awarding bodies - and are internationally recognised in over 100 countries throughout the world.

Are they available to anyone?
Yes. They are open to anyone regardless of age, background or previous qualifications. It is advised that stages 2,3, and 4 are undertaken only by people currently working in these roles and at these levels.

How do I achieve a Career Path certificate?
You will need to complete a series of online learning modules. To achieve Stages 1 to 3, you will need to pass an online test. To achieve Stage 4, you will need to complete several written work based assignments. There is no online test at Stage 4.

If there are a group of colleagues within your company or organisation, then the programme may be supported with optional, in-company workshops.

How long does each learning module take?
Each learning module can be completed in approximately 2-3 hours.

What is the course structure and how long does it take?
There is total flexibility over how long you take to complete the learning modules and when you complete the test. The following timescales gives the structure and approximate duration of each level. The timescales are provided for guidance only.

Which level is right for me?
It is important to select a level that either matches your current job level or develops you to the next level. Our staff will be happy to advise you and help you choose the right level.

What support is available?
If you have any queries regarding the learning modules or online test, we can provide support by email. However, we are not able to advise you or solve technical problems regarding internet access, system settings etc.  

How do I access the online learning modules?
We will provide you with a URL and unique registration number and password in order to access the online learning modules.

Do I need to attend any training events or workshops?
This is optional. If you are based in the UK or Europe and there are several learners within your organisation, Best Practice can provide facilitated in-company workshops to provide you with additional support.

If you are outside Europe and there are several learners within your organisation, Best Practice may be able to train a facilitator within your own company to help support the programme.

Where can I take the test?
The test may be taken at your own site. A responsible person will be required to ensure that the tests are taken under controlled conditions. A separate document is available from Best Practice that describes testing arrangements. 

When can I take the test?
The test can be taken at any time and date that suits you. However, you will need to inform Best Practice at least seven days in advance so as your test can be made accessible.

Can I take a practice test?
Yes. We can provide you with access to a practice test containing general knowledge questions. This will help you familiarise yourself with the test format before you take the actual test.

What conditions are required for the test?
The test must be taken in a controlled environment and supervised by a responsible person. We can provide a separate document that fully describes these requirements.

How long does the test last?
The test must be completed within 30 minutes. 

What is the format of the test?
30 multiple choice questions. 

What is the pass mark?
The pass mark is 70%.

How do I get the results?
You will be informed of your results by email within one working day of completing the test. If you pass, your certificate will be forward to you by post. 

What happens if I fail?
If you have not passed, you may register to retake the test. We advise that you repeat the online learning modules in order to ensure you pass on the next attempt. You may retake the test as many times as necessary, however, there is an additional fee for each test that you take. 

Are there different grades of pass?
No. If you have passed then your results will state 'pass'. There are no different grades of pass. 

What are the system requirements?
To complete the online learning modules and test, you will need access to a PC configured as follows:


Microsoft Windows 2000 or XP 
Microsoft Explorer 5.0 or higher
Monitor set to a minimum resolution of 800 x 600 pixels
Microsoft compatible mouse and keyboard
Available disc space of 50Mb
Flash Player 7
Adobe Acrobat Reader version 5 or higher
Internet connection


When can I start?
You should register with Best Practice at least seven days before intending to begin the learning programme. After registering, we will email you with the URL, registration number and password necessary to access the learning modules. 

How much will it cost and how do I register?
